“Every new beginning comes from a beginning’s end so once again, we are turning the page and starting a new chapter in 2026”.
2025 was a grand year for our Club. Our membership increased substantially and with the increase in membership, new ideas came forth for club events which made it a stellar year for club gatherings.
Our Club was invited to an Inaugural Lifestyles Senior’s Expo in Burnaby where three members prepared promotional material and collected photos for a digital slide show exhibition. There was continual interest through-out this two-hour exhibition and our volunteers enjoyed this new experience immensely.
SSS club events have included lunches, happy hours, dinners, movie nights, Westcoast Music Society Concerts and Deep Cove Coffee House Concerts, horse racing, outdoor bocce, a Chocolate Tasting experience, an outdoor movie studio tour in Langley, weekly Pitch & Putt at both Ambleside Golf Course and Central Park, live theatre and monthly dancing at various locations which has kept our membership both happy and busy! A recent tour of the Maplewood Fire & Rescue Centre drew a record number of attendees.
Our most popular events include house and garden parties. As well, our Christmas Luncheon held at the University Golf Club draws a record number of members to this “must attend, fun function” yearly. An annual Robbie Burns Luncheon & Dance is always a popular and fun event. The Haggis is piped in with a whisky toast to Robbie in the program, members dance, we are taught the Scottish Reel after a delicious luncheon and we all go home sated and happy. The effort put forth to make the Robbie Burns Luncheon such a successful event merits a huge “Thank You” to our President.
Club members plan one or two events yearly bringing forth new friendships and the camaraderie shared is outstanding. Our members live through-out Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Richmond, North and West Vancouver therefore, events are planned accordingly in each municipality enabling our members to attend functions not only in their suburb but throughout the city.
